Fiveight’s Western Australian hospitality venues — COPIA, Cooee, Cape Lodge and Indigo Oscar — have received prestigious accolades at the 2024 Australian Wine List of the Year Awards.
The awards, which review the restaurant and bar wine lists from Australia’s best restaurants, hotels, clubs, wine bars, pubs and cafes, aim to recognise, pay tribute to and reward the dedication and talent of sommeliers who create these lists.
Fiveight’s newest hospitality venture in Perth’s CBD, COPIA Café and Wine Bar, took home the highest rating with 3 Glasses awarded by the judges in its first year of submission. The venue, which opened in August 2023, was commended for its attention to sourcing top vintages and fine wines from across the globe, with an expansive collection of 227 wines for guests to explore.
Renowned South West retreat Cape Lodge maintained its 3 Glasses in this year’s awards, receiving recognition for its wonderful celebration of Margaret River wines which lift the wine list into the upper echelon. The restaurant is proudly home to 290 wines, of which 20 are available by the glass to guests.
The group’s Cottesloe Latin American restaurant, Indigo Oscar, and modern Australian restaurant, Cooee, both retained 2 Glasses in this year’s awards; rounding out the accolades for Fiveight’s Western Australian venues.
Fiveight Group Sommelier Sofia Giros, who was recognised by the judges for her tasteful curation across all four Western Australian venues, said the team has worked hard to source some of the finest drops from across the globe.
“We are extremely proud to present a range of old world and new wave varieties and wine styles to our guests to enjoy in each of our Fiveight venues. Collectively spanning over 790 different wines, we pride ourselves on curating a diverse range that pleases even the most discerning palates.
“This year’s awards mark a distinct elevation in Western Australian wine lists and we’re particularly proud to see our newest cafè and wine bar, COPIA, recognised for its prestigious pours and worldly wine list that we have worked extremely hard to source over the past year,” said Giros.
Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards was established by Rob Hirst OAM and his late wife, Judy, with Tucker Seabrook in 1993, to honour the time, skill and resources that go into developing wine lists across the country.
