East Perth Power Station (Koomba Kalark)

Fiveight, in partnership with Australian Capital Equity, was named preferred proponent in April 2020 to progress revitalisation of the 8.5 hectare East Perth Power Station precinct on the banks of the Swan River.

In recognition of the cultural significance of the location for Whadjuk Noongar people, the development will be given a Noongar name – Koomba Kalark. This translates to ‘the place of the big fire’, a reference to the former power station.

The former industrial site will be transformed to accommodate a mix of new residential, commercial, recreational and tourism opportunities, and is expected to support 1,900 construction jobs and more than 1,300 operational jobs going forward.
