Planned Ningaloo Lighthouse Resort reaches major project milestone

Exmouth

Detailed in the Application is Tattarang’s vision to create a Western Australian tourism icon through the transformation of the existing Exmouth caravan park into a sustainable world-class resort.

Located at the foot of Padjari Manu (Vlamingh Head) and 13km north of Exmouth town, the resort will be low-impact and blend into the natural environment, with a mix of accommodation options to suit many different needs and budgets.

At full capacity, the resort would accommodate about 550 overnight guests with options ranging from powered caravan sites to eco tents, family-friendly villas and hotel rooms.

The project represents one of the largest tourism investments in Western Australia’s north west.

Tattarang Chief Investment Officer John Hartman said the resort would help meet critical demand for additional accommodation in the region, create local jobs and generate income for existing tourism providers.

“Principles of sustainable tourism sit at the centre of our vision for this project which will address the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and the Exmouth community,” Mr Hartman said.

“We welcome the opportunity to engage further with local and State Government authorities and continue the strong and collaborative discussions with the Exmouth community that we have developed over the past eight months.”

An economic impact report predicts Ningaloo Lighthouse Resort will create more than 120 local jobs during the construction phase and contribute almost $18 million to Exmouth’s economy.

Once operational, it is anticipated the resort will bring more than $30 million of income to Exmouth every year and create hundreds of new direct and indirect jobs.

Contributing to the development of local skills and capabilities, Tattarang will work with Exmouth’s training and education providers, industry groups and youth to help equip locals for the construction and hospitality job opportunities the project offers.

Exmouth Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chair, David Gillespie welcomed the project’s progress. “The Ningaloo Lighthouse Resort will help unlock further investment in the town of Exmouth and bolster the town’s ongoing viability by creating more jobs,” Mr Gillespie said.

Manny Papadoulis from Australia’s Coral Coast welcomed Tattarang’s commitment to sustainable tourism, saying it aligned with global trends. “The Ningaloo Lighthouse Resort represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the Exmouth community.”

A dedicated project website with FAQs, pop-up market appearances and regular newsletters have helped share the vision of the Ningaloo Lighthouse Project in recent months. Hundreds of Exmouth residents and visitors have been consulted as part of Tattarang’s ongoing commitment to community engagement.
