Fiveight has reignited its partnership with Strange Festival for a second year running, this year promising an even bigger lineup at its flagship Perth CBD site, Carillon City.
A local winter arts festival encouraging visitors to explore the hidden corners of Perth City, Strange Festival will run from 14-23 June and transform more than 20 vacant spaces throughout the city into a wonderland of mysterious and marvelous installations, exhibitions, and performances.
Welcoming over 50 artists under one roof, this year’s festival will see Carillon City anchor a hub of activity, including a brand new live performance space launched in the building’s former food court. Aptly named Strange Court, the space will host a range of interactive performances including:
- CAVE IN: A US metal band making their Perth debut as part of their first-ever Australian tour
- “Dark Strangers” presented by Burnt Seed Records: A curated evening of performance from some of the most innovative experimental artists in Boorloo.
Strange Festival co-founder and Creative Director, Jess Oakley, said: “The new Strange Court space pays homage to the Carillon food court, which was once a regular pit-stop for the youth of suburban Perth braving the big smoke and bright lights of The City.”
“Transformed into a hive of art installations and live music, performances set to debut at Strange Court are sure to be a little different than a regular club gig,” said Oakley.
Now in its third year, Strange Festival continues to grow its programming across the Perth CBD with a record 78,000 estimated visitors attending last year’s festival.
Fiveight CEO, Paige Walker said: “The continued partnership between Fiveight and Strange Festival reaffirms our long-term vision to support cultural activities that reinvigorate the Perth CBD and bring our community together through one-of-a-kind experiences.”
Fiveight’s partnership with Strange Festival sees the company actively playing a part in achieving its long-term vision to help breathe life back into Perth city while planning for the site’s future state continues.
